After being postponed due to the storm last week, the Railway Cup semi finals are the football headline grabbers this weekend.
The top four at the midway stage will face off with the winners booking themselves a Boxing Day clash for the illustrious trophy.
Second placed Ayre United welcome Laxey in the first semi final as they look to book their spot in the first final of the men’s season.
Ayre have been in weird form in recent weeks staging dramatic comebacks but dropping points which saw them overtaken at the top of Canada Life Premier League.
Laxey drew 2-2 with St Georges in the Manx el Classico (credit Andy Dalrymple) and have been inconsistent his year, when they’ve been good, they’ve been very good, but, well you know the rest.
At Ballafletcher Corinthians face Peel, with the latter having climbed up to the top of the league in recent weeks.
Corinthians have had a similar season to Laxey, devastating when they’ve won and frustrating when they haven’t. Going into the game, they thrashed St John’s 6-0 last time out and will be hopeful that their young side can pull off a bit of shock.
As for Peel, they bounced back from a shocking 1-4 loss at home to St Mary’s to beat Ramsey in a routine 3-0 win last time out and will be hoping that their pole position in the league will be reflected on the pitch.
Both games kick off at the earlier time of 1:15pm on Saturday to allow for any extra time or penalties.
Leagues
Away from those semi finals, there are three games in the top flight as Foxdale welcome St John’s, Rushen host Marown and Union Mills face Ramsey.
In the Arden & Druggan Division 2 there are four games as promotion hopefuls Braddan face Douglas Royal, Castletown welcome Douglas and District, Malew host league leaders Old Boys and Michael United play Pulrose.
