Rapist’s Appeal Thrown Out

A man who subjected his girlfriend to a campaign of abuse and sexual violence has lost his appeal against his 18-year prison sentence.

Jon Paul Fayle, who was 32 when convicted in December 2025, was jailed for rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, attempted rape, indecent assault and attempting to choke the woman.

The offences took place over nine months in 2023, culminating in a prolonged attack on November 24 and 25 when he raped and indecently assaulted the woman over several hours.

Fayle was sentenced to 18 years and nine months’ custody in January 2026.

Judge of Appeal Cross KC and Acting Deemster Hoppmeier dismissed his appeal saying: “We are satisfied that the sentence was not manifestly excessive.”

The court noted the complainant had been terrorised by Fayle, who belittled her, forced her into sex, threatened to post naked images online and used violence including attempted choking.
