Real Time Carbon Data Still Under Review

Manx Utilities plans to publish carbon‑intensity data for the island’s electricity supply, but says real‑time figures will require further assessment due to cyber‑security risks.

In a written Tynwald answer, MUA Chair John Wannenburgh said the authority already monitors carbon intensity and generation mix internally, and has upgraded its energy‑trading systems to improve reporting.

Work has also begun on arrangements to support public publication.

He said Manx Utilities intends to release carbon‑intensity and supply‑mix information, starting with historical data.

While real‑time operational data is technically possible, any move to publish it would need careful consideration to ensure critical‑infrastructure systems are protected.

The format, frequency and timing of future publication is still being developed.
