Port Erin Commissioners have issued a stern warning after staff discovered broken bottles during a manual beach clean this morning.
Images shared by the Commissioners show several smashed bottles, prompting frustration from officials.
“We cannot emphasise enough how reckless and dangerous this is,” a spokesperson said.
“Port Erin Commissioners staff are dedicated to the provision of a clean and safe environment for all.
“While we are temporarily unable to deploy our surf rake to clean the beach mechanically, our staff are undertaking this manually – which is no mean feat.”
The Commissioners highlighted the availability of waste bins along the promenade, expressing dismay at the disregard shown by some visitors.
“There are ample waste receptacles along the beach front. That someone chooses to ignore them and behave so thoughtlessly has us at a loss,” they said.
