River Neb Rock Ramp Installed

A rock ramp was installed earlier this month in the River Neb alongside the Patrick Road, Patrick, to the west of Close Leece.

The purpose of the rock ramp is to reduce the speed of flow of the river, upstream of the ramp.

The Department of Infrastructure say that the ramp will reduce the risk of scour to the foundations of the upstream retaining wall that supports the the adjacent highway.

Rock ramps are designed so that they do not inhibit migratory fish and other aquatic life.

The work was undertaken in co-operation with and following the guidance of DEFA’s Rivers Team and the principal contractor for this scheme was Paul Carey & Sons Ltd.
