A Russian research vessel has been tracked in the Irish Sea off the west coast of the island.
The Yantar is said to be a Project 22010-class intelligence ship operated by the Russian Navy.
The independent Royal Navy news page Navy Lookout said the ship was “loitering over underwater infrastructure in the Irish Sea off the Isle of Man”.
News reports in the UK say the ship was being monitored by military aircraft and possibly HMS Iron Duke
The Royal Navy has said: “The UK military routinely monitors UK territorial waters and the adjacent sea areas to ensure compliance with maritime law, to deter malign activity and to protect our national interests.”
