Sam Perry produced another excellent performance at the latest round of the British Cross Challenge series.
This round was held on Saturday (February 8) at Temple Newsam Park in Leeds.
The Northern AC athlete had been due to compete at the Northern Cross-Country Championships a fortnight ago, but his plans were scuppered by the storm which prevented him from travelling.

There were no such problems this time, and Sam finished 15th in the U20 Men’s race in a strong field, finishing only 31 seconds adrift of the winner over a distance of 6,200 metres.
Sam said “It was a good hilly course and I felt really strong on the first two laps pushing on the uphills and cruising on the downhills.
“Then on the last lap I got a stitch, however I pushed through but just couldn’t finish as strongly as I usually would because of the stitch.
“However I’m really happy with the race and it’s a good base for my next upcoming races in February and March.”
This was another really strong showing from Sam ahead of a big year which will include the Island Games in Orkney in July.
His more immediate targets are the English National and Inter Counties Cross-Country Championships.
