Education chiefs have confirmed the cost of a primary school meal for the coming year will remain at £2.55.
That means that the daily cost of a meal for the 2026/27 school year is currently the same as that for 2025/26
The confirmation comes as a provisional menu for the 2026/27 year has been circulated.
What is being served up
For the first day back at school (September 3), primary school pupils are set to have a choice of main course between roast gammon, gravy, potatoes and broccoli, or the vegetarian option of a jacket potato with various fillings. Each day of the autumn will see main meals served with an optional glass of milk, except for Fridays, when it will be natural yoghurt, mixed berries and honey.
There will also be “termly treats”, which means Christmas shortbread biscuits on the menu in December.
