Arbory School pupils have joined forces with Beach Buddies to form a team of “rubbish warriors,” collecting litter and setting an example for the community.
The charity said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Arbory School. Year 2 teacher Lucy Hickey has shown fantastic support in our schools project.”
Children in Ms. Hickey’s class designed posters encouraging environmental care. “There are some brilliant designs, all on the theme of improving our environment, protecting our oceans, and keeping our island clean,” the charity added.
The artwork will be printed on tiles and displayed at the school.
Equip
As part of the “Great Rubbish Challenge,” Beach Buddies hopes to equip schools with bins and litter-picking kits. “Lucy Hickey has been an enthusiastic supporter, and her class has mirrored that passion,” the charity said.
Ms Hickey, who regularly volunteers at the charity’s Sunday clean-ups, has also secured backing from local businesses and families. “Beach Buddies would like to thank the families and community for their generosity,” it said.
