Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation has achieved a major milestone in installing its 600th defibrillator on the island
The life-saving device was unveiled at Heron & Brearley’s headquarters, adding to the island-wide initiative launched in 2012 after footballer Fabrice Muamba’s cardiac arrest while playing for Bolton.
Since then the devices have gone on to save lives on the island including at the NSC and a visiting cruise ship passenger.
Paul Healey, Chairman of Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, described Friday’s unveiling as a “pretty proud moment for us all”.
The devices are deployed in sports clubs, schools, offices, and public areas to maximise accessibility.
Donna Brown, Head of Marketing at Heron and Brearley, said: “It’s an amazing milestone that the 600th defibrillator has been installed here, and it’s a powerful reminder of what we can do as a community.”
With their central locations H&B’s pubs and shops are ideal locations for the defibralots to their presence at the heart of communities around the island.

Paul also stressed the importance of holder of defibrillators to register their devices.
“If you have a machine, please go to www.defibs.im and register it,” he said.
Registered devices appear on emergency services’ maps, allowing 999 operators to direct callers to the nearest available unit during cardiac emergencies.
“The more defibs we have registered, the more chance people have of survival,” he emphasised.
The foundation also reminds owners to maintain equipment, including regular pad and battery checks, to ensure life-saving readiness.
