Youth supergroup Scran has been selected to perform at the prestigious Music for Youth Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The group will showcase Manx music and culture on one of the world’s most iconic stages on Monday November 10.
The event features over 1,200 young musicians from across the UK and Scran will represent the Isle of Man on opening night.
The band’s members, aged between 13 and 17, are part of Culture Vannin’s Bree Manx music group and are mentored by acclaimed Manx musician David Kilgallon.
Scran earned their invitation following a standout performance at the Music for Youth Festival in Birmingham. Their recent achievements include representing the Isle of Man at Festival Interceltique de Lorient 2024.
Big Moment
Harpist Resa said: “Getting to perform at the Youth Proms is a big moment for me. It’s not every day you get to play the Royal Albert Hall, and I’m proud to be doing it with Scran.
“Sharing traditional Manx music on a stage like this feels important—not just for me, but for the whole Manx community we’re representing.”
Culture Vannin coordinates the project but cannot cover the travel expenses to London so the charity is now seeking sponsors or partners. Support will help ensure these young musicians can represent the Isle of Man.
