Stations to Mark Tragedy

Douglas and Ramsey lifeboat volunteers will come together tomorrow morning to make the 25th anniversary of the sinking of the Solway Harvester.

The vessel sank in Manx waters 25 years ago today, claiming the lives of seven Scottish fishermen.

Volunteers from both stations, as well as Port St Mary, responded to the call the night the vessel went down, spending several hours in dangerous seas trying to locate any survivors.

The two stations will lay a wreath at sea at 10am (a change to the scheduled time Douglas announced) on Sunday morning subject to any operational requests.

The wreath will be laid at sea in view of the memorial on Douglas Head.
