An application has been made to install a statue outside Peel Centenary Centre.
David McLean has submitted the proposal on behalf of the centre.
If approved, ‘On Ice’ by Rober Jones would be installed outside the from of the centre on Atholl Street.
The application says: “The sculpture itself wil be constructed ni steel and wil have a painted and laquered finish. The base plinth for the piece wil be constructed in concrete. either ore-cast or cast in situ: the handrails will be finished to match the sculpture; the ramp will be in-situ cast concrete; the curved screen wall wil match the paint finish and colour of the building.
“Robert Jones is a Manx sculptor who has gained a reputation for his use of upcycled steel and other materials in abstract forms.
“His work has been endorsed by leading artists including Michael Sandle RA and shown in London galleries such as Pangolin and Flowers Gallery.”
