Steam Packet Apprentices Start Training

Two of the Steam Packet’s apprentices have started their training at Fleetwood Nautical Campus.

Isle of Man locals Jake Plant and Reuben Miller will learn the necessary skills and duties of a Deck Rating while at the campus.

As Jake and Reuben embark on their journey, they will go on work alongside experienced crew members, gaining insight into life at sea and the responsibilities of a Deck Rating.

In Training

The training will include watch-keeping, maintaining safety and security, and performing practical seafaring duties such as mooring operations and vehicle deck operations.

The program, funded by the Isle of Man Maritime invests in the future of the maritime workforce and guarantees the long-term viability of ferry operations.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company would like to thank RMT Union and Isle of Man Maritime for their assistance in setting up the apprenticeship programmes.
