Students Begin Step Programme Placements

Twenty‑nine local undergraduates have started eight‑week project placements as part of the Department for Enterprise’s Step Programme.

The students will gain paid workplace experience across private and public sector organisations.

The scheme matches students with island employers to work on project‑based assignments over the summer, helping them apply academic skills in real settings while giving organisations extra resource and fresh ideas.

Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston MHK said the programme helps young people explore career opportunities on the island and build “skills, confidence and connections” that support long‑term careers in the Isle of Man.

This year’s placements span disciplines including research, data analysis, IT development, marketing, communications, engineering, heritage, tourism and leisure. Each project is tailored to the student’s area of study.

Students will present their work at the Step Programme Final on August 14, where achievements across the cohort will be recognised.
