A sub-Post Office will not retain MiCard, licensing, bill payments, or foreign exchange when it reopens after a refurbishment next month.
The Governor’s Hill outlet, based in the soon-to-be-refurbished Spar store, will only retain postal services after this time.
The changes come as Treasury prepares to end its MiCard contract in December 2025 and the DoI digitises driver and vehicle licensing.
These services accounted for over 75% of non-postal transactions at sub-Post Offices last year, significantly impacting their financial sustainability.
Refurbishment
Mannin Retail Limited, which operates the Spar store, will close the current sub-Post Office counter on April 23 ahead of refurbishment.
When the store reopens on May 6, it will offer full postal services—including parcel and letter handling—from 8am to 9pm daily, but will no longer provide agency services.

Customers needing MiCard, licensing, or bill payments are directed to the nearest alternative sub-Post Office at Willaston Spar.
