There were yet more brilliant performances from a group of Manx Harriers athletes who contested the Scottish Athletics Championships at Grangemouth over the weekend.

Sue Sinclair reported on the two days of competition on Saturday (August 17) and Sunday (August 18):

On day one of the championships, Ben Sinclair safely navigated his heats and semis of the 400 metres to make it to Sunday’s final.

Fellow Manxie Aimee Christian, had a fabulous run in the 400 metres heats to not only make the final but to do it by achieving another incredibly impressive personal best of 59.50 seconds, whilst racing two Great Britain internationals in the form of Zoey Clark and Jill Cherry.

Manx Success

Alex Bell had a great run in the 400 metres to progress to the semi-finals with a fantastic personal best of 50.63 seconds, but sensibly pulled out due to a slight niggle.

Lydia Morris ran very well in the 100 metres heats to come home in 12.56 seconds, adding to the already impressive times she has achieved this season.

On day two of the Scottish event, Aimee ran another personal best in the 200 metres heats to finish off a fantastic weekend.

Lydia had a great run in the 200 metres heats to reach the semi-finals, and Ben finished 6th in a strong 400 metres final after three tough rounds.

It’s been a lot of travelling, heats, semis and finals for them all, and they have done the Isle of Man proud.

Well done Ben, Abi, Aimee, Alex and Lydia for flying the Manx flag over the Scottish U15, U20 & Senior Athletic Championships over the past two weekends.
