Thursday Morning Weather

With high winds and rain hitting the island tonight, some roads have been closed around the island.

Gusts of up to 55-60mph are forecast in exposed coastal areas.

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, turning heavy at times. A very windy night as well, with strong southerly winds soon increasing to gale force, potentially reaching severe gale force with gusts of up to 55-60 mph in exposed coastal areas. Coastal overtopping is expected at high tide tonight (~1:40am) as well as inner harbour flooding in Ramsey and Douglas. Temperatures falling to 13°C. 

Douglas

The north end of Douglas Promenade has closed.

North

The DoI said it was planning to close junctions between the quay and the following roads and lanes:

• West Street
• East street
• Christian Street
• Collins Lane
• Old Post Office Lane
• Courier Lane

It is also intended to close Derby Road and West Quay.

South

12:45am Castletown Town Commissioners have updated its page to say that the  Castletown Promenade has now been closed.
