The Queen’s Pier Restoration Trust has thanked supporters after raising more than £3,100 during its final scheduled Sunday opening of the 2026 season.
The event saw His Excellency Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer visit the pier to formally close Phase 2 of the restoration project and officially open Phase 3.
Supporters turned out in large numbers for the ceremony, which took place at 3pm, with the Trust describing the occasion as a “wonderful send off” for the season.
Volunteers were on hand throughout the afternoon operating the train, serving refreshments, selling merchandise and pier books, and speaking with visitors.
Following the event, the Trust said donations collected through cash buckets, card payments and a £1,000 cheque donation totalled £3,146.97.
The Trust said it was “very humbled and grateful” for the support received, adding that the restoration project could not continue without the generosity of supporters.
It also described 2026 as its “very best ever” summer season and thanked everyone who had visited and supported the project.
