Manx enduro legend David Knight is set to make his debut in the Japan National Cross-Country (JNCC) championship later this year.
The multiple world champion confirmed he will travel to Japan in November to compete aboard a Ducati 450, describing the opportunity as something he has wanted to do throughout his career.
Knight said: “I am very honoured to finally come race in Japan. My career has spanned through four decades and having raced all over the world, racing in a Japanese JNCC race has always been something I’ve wanted to do.
“The series looks great and I can’t wait to come over in November and experience it for myself on the Ducati 450.”
Knight is regarded as one of the Isle of Man’s most successful off-road riders, having enjoyed a career that has taken him to events around the world.
Before heading to Japan, Knight will first travel to Sweden for the Gotland Grand National on October 23-24, one of the world’s largest enduro races which attracts around 1,500 competitors.
Having tackled the event for the first time last year, he will return before spending a week at home and then travelling on to Japan.
Knight, who has previously visited Japan for training schools, said he is now focused on competing in events he has always wanted to do.
“At this stage, it’s about doing races I want to do. It’s a bit of a bucket list thing,” he said.
His appearance in the JNCC championship will mark another international chapter in his remarkable career.
