Geoff Sutcliffe has announced his intention to stand for election in Arbory, Castletown and Malew.
In a statement, Sutcliffe said he had decided to step forward after years of watching the island’s challenges and asking whether he was prepared to “step forward rather than simply comment from the sidelines”. He said the answer is now yes.
Sutcliffe, who has worked across farming, construction, hospitality and the entertainment sector, said those experiences have shaped his belief that government should be “practical, accountable and focused on delivering real outcomes, not political point scoring”.
He highlighted the pressures faced by families, workers and employers, and said long‑term thinking and responsible environmental stewardship must underpin future policy.
He said his loyalty would be to the people of Arbory, Castletown and Malew, adding that every issue should be judged on its merits.
Sutcliffe pledged to listen, be honest, work hard, explain his decisions and put the community first.
He will spend the coming weeks meeting residents ahead of September’s General Election.
