A catalogue of high-quality performances saw the Isle of Man Swim Team dominate at the opening round of the National Arena Swimming league season, winning by an enormous 75-point margin.
The 38-strong squad got their North West Division Two campaign off to a flying start in Ellesmere Port on Saturday (October 10), storming into an 11-point lead after just 10 events. Despite enjoying a commanding advantage for large parts of the meeting, the team showed no signs of complacency, and amassed an impressive total of 263 points across their 51 swims.
Swim Conwy and Knutsford made up the remainder of the podium, losing out to the Isle of Man by 75 and 77 points respectively. You can find a full list of the round one results here.
The event was the first of a four round series, culminating at the National Finals Day in Sandwell next March.
Take it from the Top!
It was a weekend to remember for Manx swimming as, in addition to the Arena League triumph, two of the island’s most prolific coaches were selected to coach the Swim England Diploma in Sporting Excellence programme for the next two years.
Head Coach Lee Holland has taken up the same role within the scheme, while Silla Parnell joined as a group coach. Both were in attendance as the programme got underway in Loughborough on Sunday (October 11).
