Port St Mary Commissioners says there’s been an ‘unfortunate increase’ in the amount of dog poo around the village.
Last night, the board agreed to try and lobby the government into solving the issue – including raising DNA testing as a solution along with speaking to other local authorities to get involved.
The local authority also says dog fouling put staff at risk as well as other members of the public and is encouraging residents to use the poo bags which are provided.
Commissioner Callum O’Meara says the system needs to change and residents should not be expected to confront people on the street.
