Amber Warning For Storm Force Winds

The Ronaldsway Met Office has issued another weather warning for the weekend, this time for severe gales and storm force winds.

The amber weather warning will be in place on Saturday (December 7) from 3am until midnight.

The winds on Saturday will very quickly turn to the north or northwest and increase to severe gale force or storm force early Saturday morning, with gusts quite widely of 60-70mph but with a risk of 70-80mph possible in more exposed spots.

These strength winds will lead to fallen branches/trees, some structural damage with flying debris, as well as a risk of disruption to travel.

The peak in the wind is expected to be between 3am and 3pm, but even after that it will take a long time for the winds to slowly ease, falling to gale force into the early hours of Sunday morning.

This warning will be reviewed and updated if required, so please keep checking for updates.
