The Department for Enterprise says it has spoken to current and other airlines as part of its work to improve autumn and winter air links.
The Minister for Enterprise, Tim Johnston, confirmed the talks follow Tynwald’s approval of the Strategic Air Services Policy in January.
He said discussions have been held with a number of airlines, “including all incumbent providers”.
These discussions have “centred on maintaining sustainable and reliable year-round services, with a focus on the core routes identified in the Strategic Air Services Policy, together with delivering additional regional connectivity”.
easyJet
Regarding easyJet, the Minister stated departmental officers and Isle of Man Airport colleagues “maintain regular contact with the airline, holding various meetings alongside on-Island engagement over the last 12 months”.
“These discussions have included the ongoing service provision and exploration of further opportunities for air routes serving the island,” he added.
Mr Johnston described easyJet as “an important strategic partner for the island’s air connectivity,” confirming the government will “continue to actively engage with them as we look to secure, sustain and grow the island’s air connectivity into the medium to long term”.
