So the biggest cycle race in the world is the Tour de France, right? Well not if you’re between the ages of 5 and 18 it’s not.
That would be the week-long European Junior Cycling Tour in Assen, Netherlands.
It’s about as serious as kids cycle racing gets, anywhere in the world with over 700 entries from 19 different countries.
Every year, riders from all over the world converge on the Dutch town to battle it out over five days of road racing. It’s the pinnacle of junior cycle racing.
This year, three Team RL360 Cycling riders, Daniel Minay, Thomas Hutchinson and Tommy Bass travel to the event with all three riders having enjoyed very successful seasons in various British Cycling championships both on and off-island with Daniel and Tommy recently being crowned Northwest Champions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the Isle of Man riders, who travel to Holland to mix it up with the best in the world.
