Thousands Raised in Memory of Robert

Young members of the island’s farming community have presented £6,268 for the Agricultural Benevolent Fund in memory of Robert Kissack.

The money was raised by a sheep searing event at the Bridge in Laxey.

Lucy Parsons, one of the organisers, said “it was a great event” that not only honoured their friend Robert, but also will go to support farmers in difficult times.

She said: ” If farmers are ever in need of money. The agricultural Benevolent Fund is there to support them.

“So through snow, through hardship, if anything happens to the farm where they lose some animals, they’ve got the Benevolent Fund there to fall back on so.”

Dylan Groom added: “Robert was a good friend of many of ours, so we thought, what could we do to keep his name going.

“He was a big part of the young farmers on the Isle of Man. After a lot of head scratching, we got it done. It brought everyone from the community together, and they had a great time.”
