Tourist accommodation across the Island can bring ‘benefits’ to the Manx economy and support Island communities.
That’s the view of Island Escapes after Port Erin Commissioners confirmed it would no longer support planning applications which would see residential properties granted tourism use.
Managing Director John Keggin says he doesn’t believe a blanket rule is necessary but acknowledges empty and vacant properties should be a focus for government.
Mr Keggin says tourism is not a ‘threat’ but should be seen as an ‘opportunity’.
