Tributes have been paid to Alan Oversby after his sad death in the Pre-TT Classic over the weekend.
Mr Oversby, 68 from Bolton-Le-Sands, lost his life in an incident during Sunday’s 400cc race.
The Manx Motor Cycle Club said its members are “deeply saddened” to hear of his death, saying Mr Oversby was “one of the most experienced and respected competitors in classic motorcycle racing”.
It added: “A previous Manx Grand Prix winner and highly accomplished Mountain Course competitor with multiple podium finishes, Alan continued to demonstrate remarkable skill, commitment and passion for the sport he loved at 68 years of age.
“His long association with the Pre-TT Classic Road Races, beginning in 2005, and his outstanding record of sixteen victories, stand as a testament to his talent and dedication.
“The loss of such an accomplished and admired rider will be felt throughout the road racing community. The Manx Motor Cycle Club extends its sincere condolences to Alan’s wife Julie, his family, team, friends and all those connected with him at this very difficult time.”
Condolences
Tim Glover MHK, who commented on many races around the Billown Circuit, said he was “gutted” by the news.
Mr Glover said: “Was watching him win two races this afternoon and have called him over the line many times in commentary. Always willing to share experiences in the paddock to help with telling the story.
“Sincerest condolences to his family, friends and his team who were watching and cheering him on today in the same spot I was watching from.”
