Spectators at this year’s TT are being urged to dispose of dairy and meat products responsibly, as Foot and Mouth Disease continues to affect parts of Europe.
Organisers have asked fans to place all food waste in a bin away from the racing circuit and any nearby livestock. Where no bin is available, rubbish should be kept until a proper disposal point is found.
Dr Amy Beckett, Chief Veterinary Officer, said: “There are currently no Foot and Mouth cases in the British Isles, but the disease remains a serious threat to the farming industry. Please do your part by disposing of food waste carefully.”
Since April 2025, it has been illegal to bring meat (other than poultry) or dairy products from Europe into Great Britain and the Isle of Man.
The ban covers airport sandwiches and duty-free purchases.
Authorities are reminding visitors that even small scraps can pose a risk to local farms if animals come into contact with contaminated waste.
