TUC’s Concern Over Airport

Ronaldsway Airport Air Traffic Control Tower

The Isle of Man Trades Union Council has issued a stark warning over a “breakdown in trust, accountability, and basic respect” at Ronaldsway Airport.

In a strongly-worded statement, the IOMTUC cited recent House of Keys exchanges and claims by Air Traffic Control Officers as evidence of a culture where “staff are unsafe, unheard, and undermined”,

A spokesperson said: “When employees are silenced for raising safety concerns, when unions are bypassed… and when democratic oversight is dismissed as ‘not our business’, something has gone badly wrong.”

The statement added that public confidence cannot be rebuilt with “silence and blanket assurances,” calling for immediate government action.

It said: “We urge the Department of Infrastructure and the Cabinet Office to act immediately to restore trust, protect whistleblowers, and work with unions in good faith to rebuild a safe and accountable culture at Ronaldsway.”
