University College Isle of Man has submitted plans for a mobile classroom within its Horticulture Enclosure.
The proposal aims to solve practical issues where students currently must walk through the main college building to reach their theory classroom from the practical area, leading to mud being carried inside and lost learning time.
A planning statement from the college explains: “The teaching area would allow us to be nearer the areas that we do practical lessons in.
“It would negate the issue of delivering a lesson the other side of college and then carry out the practical in the horticulture area or vice versa.”
The statement adds it would be “particularly helpful” for courses requiring frequent access to water sources, avoiding the need to repeatedly use a staff pass at a main entrance.
