An investigation has been launched after the waste oil container at the Eastern Civic Amenity Site became contaminated.
The incident happened over the weekend.
A site user placed sand in the waste oil container at the site which has effectively rendered it contaminated and no longer acceptable to be sent to the Energy from Waste Facility for processing.
The site will now incur a significant cost to get the oil container decontaminated and this cannot be done on the Island.
CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify who is responsible.
