Chief Minister Alf Cannan has said Manx Care cannot go on overspending without “risking the stability of our public reserves”.
Last year, with the tax rise included, Manx Care received an additional £43m in funding, conditional on its promise to stay within budget.
However, it is now clear that the organisation will be millions of pounds over budget again this year.
Mr Cannan told the Government Conference: “Departments including health must stick to their budgets irrespective of whether they believe they are underfunded or not and an immediate turnaround plan is now needed for Manx Care.
“Those discussions are underway and as soon as the plan has been agreed it will be communicated to Tynwald and the community.”
How this moves forward given the tweets from Health and Social Minister Lawrie Hooper, who has made clear that health services are underfunded, remains to be seen.
