You Can Still Have Confidence in Manx Eggs

A Salmonella outbreak in the UK has served as a reminder to buy Manx produce, says a farming leader.

The UK Health Security Agency has said the outbreak “may be” linked to imported eggs. Contaminated eggs have infected over 200 people in the UK, killing one and hospitalising over 30.

Manx National Farmers’ Union general security Sarah Comish said: “All hens on the Isle of Man are free range, and all producers operate to the highest health and welfare standards.

“There is also the benefit of them being low food miles and fresh from the farm.”

She added: “Whether its eggs, dairy, meat, wheat or veg – low food miles, high health, welfare and environmental standards, and great traceability means you can have confidence in your Manx produced food!”
