More than 40 young people from the Isle of Man have returned home after taking part in one of the largest events in the Scouting and Guiding calendar.
A contingent of 45 Scouts, Explorers, Guides and Rangers, accompanied by nine adult volunteers, travelled to Chamboree 2026 held in Cheshire.
The week-long international camp that brought together more than 6,000 young people from across the UK and around the world.
The group took part in a wide range of activities including climbing, caving and land yachting, while also learning new skills such as 3D printing, drone flying, drumming and bell ringing.
The event also gave participants the opportunity to meet Scouts and Guides from a number of countries, including Ireland, Thailand, Egypt and China.
Incredible Experience
Neil Simpson, Deputy Lead Volunteer for Activities, said the camp had been an “incredible experience” for the young people, allowing them to take on new challenges, develop new skills and build friendships with Scouts and Guides from around the world.
The trip was supported by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s Manx Community Assistance Scheme, which helped with travel costs to the UK.
The Isle of Man contingent returned home with new skills, new friendships and memories from what organisers described as an unforgettable week.
