Your Voice Matters: Gov Asks 16–30s How It Should Reach You

The government has launched a new Youth Communications Survey aimed at understanding how 16‑ to 30‑year‑olds want to receive information from public services.

The project, led by the Cabinet Office’s Government Communication Service as part of the STEP Student placement programme, is designed to ensure official messages reach younger Islanders in ways that are relevant, accessible and genuinely useful.

The research will feed into a detailed report later this summer, setting out practical recommendations on how government departments can better connect with the next generation — from the platforms they use to the types of content they pay attention to.

Survey

The survey takes around five minutes to complete and asks young people about their preferred social media platforms, how they currently find government information, their experiences accessing services, and what changes would make communication more meaningful.

A Cabinet Office spokesperson said the project is about “listening to young people directly and shaping future communication around their needs, not assumptions.” They added that every response will help build a clearer picture of how government can modernise its approach.

All responses are anonymous. The survey is open now at Bit.ly/iomyouthsurvey.
