New Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall has pledged to compile and share the full history of the stalled Crossag Farm development.
The project, earmarked for housing and a new primary school, has been under discussion since 2007 but remains at a “very high level concept stage.”
Mr Crookall, who assumed the role this week, stated he is “currently considering development options” after receiving a feasibility report, but cautioned any progress is subject to “finance, planning regulations and consultations” with local members.
Progress
Concerns were raised by several members about the lack of progress.
Jason Moorhouse noted a reversal in momentum, saying: “Last summer, the previous minister was much more confident about things moving forward.”
He pressed for clarity on whether plans still include a new school for the overcrowded area, a point echoed by Tim Glover.
Juan Watterson SHK highlighted the protracted delay, asking: “What the hold up is with this project and why it is still… at the very high level concept stage?”
Julie Edge also sought assurance the development would be integrated into the government’s overall capital expenditure and estate strategy, while also calling for “consistency” in infrastructure investment across the island.
Ms Crookall told members he would forward the info he had to Tynwald members, adding he would also liaise with the DESC on school provision.
He also unvited Mr Moorhouse, who he acknowledged was “very, very keen on this,” to join the DoI to help with the work.
