A visitor to the TT learned the hard way that 54 wasn’t his lucky number after being stopped by police for speeding.
Officers conducting speed enforcement at the Hairpin clocked the motorcyclist riding at 54mph in a 30mph zone.
Upon stopping the rider, further enquiries revealed he held no licence or insurance.
A police spokesperson said: “This serves as a prime example as to why we do what we do. A simple speed enforcement stop, aimed at reducing harm, discovered someone knowingly driving without insurance or a licence.”
They added: “Not only does the rider pose a risk of causing increased harm due to speeding and not being ‘trained to ride’, but if he crashed into someone or something, the innocent party would be out of pocket.”
The rider will appear in court at a later date.
