7% of Manxman Sailings Cancelled

Figures released by the government show that 96 out of 1,353 Manxman sailings were cancelled in 2024.

Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson revealed the figures after a written question from Jason Moorhouse.

Most of the cancelled sailings, which represented 7.1% of all scheduled crossings, were due to the weather, with some also being a result of industrial action.

The other cancelled sailings, on February 15 and 16, were due to an accident on the quayside.

Reliable

Dr Allinson said: “In the 2024 calendar year, IOMSPC sailings were 94.7% reliable. (Total sailings scheduled was 2,261 with 119 cancelled).

“Cancellations were predominantly due to adverse weather conditions in the Irish Sea caused by the large number of storms experienced at the start and towards the end of last year.”
