A local support group is hosting a coffee morning in the hope to raise awareness of autoimmune disease that is caused by a reaction to gluten.
The Isle of Man Coeliac Support Group will be hosting its coffee morning on Saturday (June 15) at 10:00am
It will be held at St. Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Glencrutchery Road, Douglas.
Coeliac disease
It is thought that one in hundred people have coeliac disease, meaning there may be around 850 suffers on the Island.
The group provides advice and support to those faced with a new diagnosis, those with children newly diagnosed and all other people in the community that have to live a gluten-free life.
The group says that it understands that ‘finding delicious, gluten-free food and drink can be a challenge’, but it has got you covered.
Coffee morning
There will be different gluten free food to taste, refreshments and a chance to meet other people on the Isle of Man who have to live a gluten-free life.
During the coffee morning, there will be a there will be a members’ meeting, reporting where the charity is up to and the appointment of new committee members.
The General Meeting will be brief with the presentation of accounts and appointment of committee members.
It will be seeking nominations for the committee and ideas for future events.
Once the business is completed, it will have time to taste various gluten free treats, share experiences and enjoy the company of fellow coeliacs.
