FoI: Harrisons Promoted Island For Free

Three-time TT winner and Laxey resident Dean Harrison was not paid to appear in a video for Locate Isle of Man.

Harrison and his family appeared in a promotional video, which has just under 36,000 views, after they relocated to the island.

All case studies feature individuals and families who kindly give their time and agree to be featured to help reenforce the benefits the island has to offer as part of its ongoing Locate campaigns.

Department for Enterprise

Launched during this year’s TT, the interview with Harrison promoting the island’s way of life and a great place to bring up a family.

FoI Request

A freedom of information request asked for a breakdown of the cost of the video and whether or not the Harrisons were paid to appear in it.

The Department for Enterprise confirmed the total cost was £2,412 and that the Harrisons received no reimbursement.

It said: “This case study formed part of a broad range of promotional activities as part of Locate Isle of Man’s increased promotion throughout June 2024 during the TT races to engage and inform audience visiting the island and engaging remotely around the world during the period.

“The Department has never paid for anyone to feature in any of these real life features and is grateful for all contributors who have supported them over the years, including Mr. Harrison and his family.”
