Ballakermeen High School has paid tribute to its gardener Peter Quayle.
Mr Quayle, who had been looking after the grounds for over six years, passed away following a short illness.
The school said that Mr Quayle took “great pride in the work that he did at Ballakermeen, achieving 2nd place in the 2021 Douglas in Bloom”.
It said: “We will all miss Peter more than words can express. He was not just our co-worker but our good friend as well.
“Peter would be out working on the school garden in all weathers, rain or shine, and his big smile and chirpy conversation was the highlight of many of our days. He was an inspiration to many and a true gentleman.
“We would like to pass on our deepest condolences to his family.”
