The Manx NFU is asking walkers to leave gates as they find them when out exploring our glorious countryside.
It follows some posts about walkers leaving gates open after using them to access rights of way or even ignoring locked gates to walk on private land.
Emphasising the Countryside Code, the Manx NFU said: “Gates between fields can be sometimes be left open by the farmer to allow livestock access to water etc.
“So if a gate is shut when you come across it – make sure it is shut properly after you, but if it was open when you found it, leave it open.”
It is also, again, asking dog walkers to be sensible and keep dogs on leads and away from livestock.
