A planning application has been submited for the “Marketplace of Mann,” to bring a celebration of Manx food, drink, and entertainment to Douglas Promenade during TT.
The event, planned to run from May 24 to June 8 aims to showcase local producers and entertainers, offering a unique cultural experience for both residents and visitors.
Organised by Event Management Solutions, the Marketplace of Mann will feature a variety of Manx food and beverage stalls, craft vendors, and live entertainment, including a dedicated stage for local performers.
Two licensed bars, operated by Turnstile Inns Ltd and Foraging Vintners, will serve Manx-produced drinks, with a focus on promoting local breweries and distilleries.
Organisers plan for the marketplace not to be for “party-goer” style consumers, but to “offer a starting point for those looking for a “Night Out” experience, or offer a “Foodcourt” style of environment for those looking for a casual dining experience in the evenings”.
Bottleneck
The event will be held at the Bottleneck on Loch Promenade, a site previously used for similar events.
The organisers aim to create a “boutique and intimate” atmosphere, with a central gathering area for visitors to relax and enjoy the offerings. The site will also include a children’s activity area and space for local charities to raise awareness and funds.
With a planned capacity of 2,500 people, the event is designed to complement, rather than compete with, other TT Festival attractions and organisers hope to attract up to 1,000 visitors daily, with a focus on promoting Manx products and culture.
The planning application outlines extensive safety measures, including crowd management, emergency procedures, and a zero-tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol misuse.
If approved, the Marketplace of Mann will run daily from 12 pm to 10 pm, with additional security and stewarding in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
