Marown produced the result of their season as they came from behind to beat Corinthians in the Hospital Cup.
Gaols from Ethan Ready and Joey Rothwell secured the win at the Memorial Playing Fields.
Coritnhians had taken the lead through Ryan Nelson after good work from Connor Clark teed him up just six yards from goal.
However a combination of resolute defending and Corinthians being wasteful kept Marown in it and in the second half they took their chance.
With about 75 on the clock Ready struck to level with one of the few real chances Marown were able to craft and appeared to be sending the game to extra time.
Curphey
Then with just moments left Rothwell did well to get a shot off and found the back of the net from close range to send Tom Curphey into hysterics the likes of which the parish has not seen since the club’s last Melliah.
Marown’s prize for that win is a trip to Laxey after the Miners beat Rushen United 4-2 AET.
The other results saw Peel beat St Mary’s 1-3 at the Bowl, St John’s beat St Georges 4-0 Ayre beat Union Mills 1-2 and Colby overcame Onchan 2-4 on pens after two hours of football failed to produce a goal.
Braddan also were awarded a walkover win over Malew with the southern side unable to field a team while Douglas Royal put five past D&D without reply.
Promotion Twist
Governors Athletic threw a major spanner into RYCOB’s promotion bid with a shock 1-2 win in Ramsey on Saturday.
With Old Boys winning 4-0 at home against Michael it means they are ahead by 1 point with one game to play.
That one game the two sides have left is, of course, a rearranged fixture against each other, at Blackberry Lane.
