Ayre United put on one of their best displays of the season to beat Foxdale 4-0 and seal a second Manx FA Cup in four years this weekend.

Last year’s beaten finalists dominated the game throughout and ran out comfortable winners at The Bowl.

After a cagey opening 15 minutes, Ayre were awarded a penalty in the 17th minute after a trip in the box.

Shaun Kelly stepped up but Andy Ball repeated his semi-final heroics that booked Foxdale’s final spot by diving to his right and saving.

It didn’t take long for Kelly and Ayre to find a goal however as a mix up at the back between Ball and Matty Cubbon saw a half cleared ball presented perfect to Kelly who slotted home 1-0.

Ball kept the score at 1-0 with a top save near the end of the half as he denied Lewis Moran when he went clear on the break.

Doubling up

The second half saw Foxdale with more of the ball but failing to create much as Ayre eventually doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Chris Duggan nodded in at the back post.

Cameron Torr made it 3-0 soon after when he went through on goal, Ball saved the original shot but it rebounded off Torr and bobbled into the back of the net.

Any lingering hopes Foxdale had left were extinguished when Alex Hewes received a second yellow and Jay Chatwood was sin binned for his response.

Moran added the finishing touches late on as he tapped home from close range.

Man of the match: Shaun Kelly
