‘Here’s to the next 12 months’

The new chair of Braddan Commissioners says he is “really proud” to be taking on the role.

Neal Mellon will serve as chair for the next year, the first new chair since Andrew Jessopp took on the role in 2013.

Mr Mellon was first elected as a commissioner in April 2016 and has previously served as vice chairman in 2018/19, this will be his first term in the role of chairman.

Mr Jessopp was elected as vice chairman.

Newcomers

The meeting was also the first official one for the two newest commissioners, Dan Stevenson and Mel Kermeen who both stood in an uncontested election last month.

Mr Stevenson was elected to serve on the Municipal Association and Ms Kermeen was elected to represent the board on the Eastern Civic Amenity Site Committee.

Mr Mellon said: “I have enjoyed being an active Commissioner for our parish over the last nine years and I’m really proud and honoured to be offered this opportunity to lead the board over the next 12 months.

“The parish of Braddan is diverse, dynamic and has great potential. I believe it is important to engage more actively with the community and commerce; to welcome and to listen to ideas, concerns and hopes for the future.
