The Police have warned drivers to make sure they are locking their cars after a slight increase in vehicles being taken without consent.
Officers are urging people to make it harder for people to just drive away with your vehicle.
Many of the vehicles taken had the keys left inside, giving opportunistic thieves an open invitation.
Police Advice
Lock your vehicle, every time. Even if you are just ‘popping in’.
Take your keys with you. Keyless or not, don’t leave them behind.
Parents, can your children or friends help themselves to your keys? Do you know what they are up to?
The Constabulary said: “TWOCs can have catastrophic consequences and we want to prevent anybody being seriously injured or worse.
“Sadly, there are already plenty of examples of this in the media.”
