Port Erin Lifeboat Station has officially named its new Atlantic 85 lifeboat Neil Crowe (B-951) during a ceremony over the weekend.
The naming event marked the vessel’s entry into service.
Lifeboat Operations Manager Lewis Ridgway said: “This ceremony gave us a heartfelt opportunity to thank the Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust and the family of Neil Crowe, whose generous donation has funded our next chapter of saving lives here at Port Erin Lifeboat Station.”
The ceremony included speeches from Charles Crossley of the Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust and Patrick Crowe, who paid tribute to his late father.
Reverend Colin Barry conducted the dedication service, which featured hymns performed by Rushen Silver Band.
Following tradition, Neil Crowe’s daughters christened the lifeboat before volunteer crew demonstrated its capabilities.
The station has saved 122 lives since its establishment in 1884.
